Right Reason Technologies Announces Fair Use and Copyright Training For Educators06/26/2008
Right Reason Technologies has added to their training offerings with the release of "Copyright, Fair Use, and the Classroom". This course is designed specifically for educators, with the aim to simplify the concepts of fair use and copyright law as it pertains to classroom use. Copyright law is complex and confusing, even more so in regards to educators who can make use of exemptions that exist, but are not easily understood. These copyright exemptions, known as "Fair Use", provide necessary protections to the copyright holder, while also allowing people limited use of copyrighted materials.
"While researching for this course, we talked to numerous educators - from elementary level through university. It seems that at all levels, educators are confused about copyrights" said Dominick Meglio, who aided in the content development of this course. He continued to state, "it does not appear that any teachers are intentionally trying to break the law, but rather that they do not understand what their obligations are." This new course will guide teachers through the law and provide them with an understanding of what is allowed and prohibited by "Fair Use" in the classroom, allowing them to enhance the education experience of their students while keeping the schools free from legal trouble.
