NYSSBA Convention & Education Expo

October 31st, 2011

Dominick Meglio

This past weekend, myself and Holly Diaz were fortunate enough to attend the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) conference in Buffalo, NY. In addition to enjoying the beautiful backdrop of Niagara Falls, and spending time in the birthplace of Buffalo Wings, we also had a chance to speak with school board members and superintendents from all over New York state.

We learned a lot about the needs of many districts and it seems like 2011-2012 will be the year of benchmarking in New York. Fortunately, the benchmark testing and reporting available in RightPath, coupled with the Assessment Creator for formative assessments, and our Intervention Lessons for remediation, provide tools available no where else. Rather than simply providing information on where students are weak, we provide tools to actually change instruction to address their weaknesses.

Finally, in addition to meeting personally with districts, we also attended a presentation hosted by Amityville Union Free School District. Hosted by Dr. Kathleen Gulbin (Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction), Dr. Mary Kelly (Assistant Superintendent for Data and Technology), Mr. Steven Lindenfeld (Middle School Assistant Principal), and Ms. Michele Sikhrangkur (Board President), they explained how our programs have significantly and measurably improved their district while at the same time saving them money. They explained how, the program was originally started solely to replace their existing homebound program. With that program alone, they were able to save over $100,000 per year. At that point, every other program they’ve used RightPath for has essentially been a free benefit.

If you would like to learn more about our benchmarking programs, RightPath, or Amityville’s presentation please contact our sales team at 877-778-8277 or sales@rightreasontech.com
